Yamadori: This lovely souvenir sheet was issued in 1991 by North Korea. It was incredibly expensive since it was brought to the country via Canada (we have an embargo against North Korea). I am not sure what it commemorates, but the artwork is outstanding! I have finally found a source for them and for the moment, have the souvenir sheet available.

Somalia, also called the Somalia Democratic Republic, is located on the Horn of Africa, the easternmost part of the African continent. Although it gained its independence in 1960, nearly constant unrest has kept it from establishing a lasting presence in the area.

Japanese Chin Tobacco, Tea and Playing Cards This drawing is from Cofton Collections. These cards were from a series titled "Dogs-Reprint of 1963" issued in 1988.

Yamadori: This lovely photograph (individual and dog not identified) comes from a series of cards from a set titled "Dogs and Friend" issued in 1938 by Carreras. On the back of the card, it says: 'THE JAPANESE SPANIEL' "Japanese Spaniels really came originally from Japan, and out there they were treated with great ceremony, almost as great as that which surrounded their cousins, the Pekingese. They have rather lovely and appealing eyes, and if they live in the country they become quite sporting. They are not very good dogs to keep in town, as their coats pick up the mud so easily. At one time they were very popular, but at present one seldom sees them as pets, although there are plenty at shows". Japanese Chin Card 2(Carreras,Ddogs and Friend 1938)... SOLD OUT

Yamadori: This puppy card is from a set put out by Godfrey Phillips titled "Our Puppies" issued in 1936. The following is printed on the back of the card: 'OUR PUPPIES' THE JAPANESE SPANIEL "This dog is a relation of the Pekingese. Nice little companion, but is delicate and requires experienced handling and care".

Yamadori: This gorgeous card was issued by Wills in 1914. There was also a reprint issued in 1987, but the two copies that I have are originals. On the back it says, JAPANESE SPANIEL These small long-haired dogs are reputed to be natives of Japan, and it seems quite certain that they have been bred in that country for centuries, although some experts claim that they originated either in China or Tibet. Early in the 19th century, British seamen often brought specimens home from the Far East. In more recent years the breed has attained more general popularity, and some four years ago the Japanese Chin Club was formed to foster the breed in this country. The head of the Japanese is large and broad for the size of the dog, and the jaws slightly turned up. The eyes are large, dark and prominent, and the body compact and squarely built. Its coat may be either black and white or red and white, and should be long, straight, and silky; its weight should be from 4 to 9 lbs. and its height at the shoulder about 10 inches. This unusual card was put out in Turkish Trophies Cigarettes when they were 10 cents for 10. This was a series of Fables and this one was called "The Mischievous Dog. A dog was so mischievous that his Master hung a weight from his neck. The Dog showed this weight as his badge of honor, until other dogs told him it was really a mark of disgrace. Moral: -- Dont mistake Notoriety for Fame." This card is hard to find because, in addition to not being listed as a dog card, it is collected by fanciers from all three unusual breeds.

Yamadori: Japanese Chin Playing Cards Sorry, we don't have any complete sets of playing cards. These were from collections of antique cards and there is no way of knowing how old they are or where one might find more of them. They are certainly a part of Japanese Chin history.

Yamadori: No minutes on this beautiful phone card from China but a 'must have' for the Japanese Chin collector. All the information on the back of the card is printed in Chinese.

Yamadori: Japanese Chin Collector Plates These beautiful plates are painted by some of the best artists in Europe who have specialized in the demanding technique needed to make porcelain plates of perfect quality. The designs have also been approved by International dog show judges for the breed shown. Галина Петровна, по-моему на этой тарелке изображен твой Айкемуно Бибигон. Права ли я?
